Kids, their schooling and family became subjects of conversation between us: Sanjay Dutt on reconnecting with Madhuri Dixit on the sets of Kalank

Sanjay Dutt will be seen next in Abhishek Varman’s period drama Kalank. The film has an ensemble cast that also includes Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Varun Dhawan. The film is also special because it brings back the hit pair of Sanjay and Madhuri after 21 long years. During an interview, Sanjay spoke about reuniting with Madhuri after almost two decades and also revealed what they spoke about on the sets after such a long time gap.

During the interview, he was asked what he and Madhuri spoke about after reconnecting, he had the most epic answer. He said, “Kids, their schooling and family become subjects of conversation between us." He further said, “It was wonderful just to be with Madhuri and to perform again, I mean it was amazing. We got this particular dramatic scene together. She has always been that powerful actor and now she has kind of evolved, grown in time as a great actor."

Sanjay also heaped immense praise on Madhuri and said, “Working with her is a pleasure. Madhuri is such a great actor. I’ve done many films with her, I can’t even recall in one go. So, to work with her again in that one scene that we did together in Kalank was amazing. She’s got that command as an actor. It’s a pleasure to share screen space with her after so many years. So much has gone past, people have matured. She herself comes across as such a matured actor."

Sanjay also revealed a little about his character in Kalank and said, “Balraj Chaudhary is a great character. He’s very important to the narrative. The film is basically a love story that involves Varun, Alia and Aditya. However, Balraj is significant because the story revolves around his family. I’ve also moved in the right direction and have started playing characters that are more commensurate with my age and the way I am now. I guess, after completing the jail term I had to change my approach and choices.”

Kalank is produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala and is slated to release on April 17.
