My father asks me whether he will get films after he returns to India post treatment: Ranbir Kapoor on Rishi Kapoor’s ‘insecurities’

Rishi Kapoor has been undergoing treatment for an undisclosed disease since September in New York but he keeps up with the happenings in the film industry through his son Ranbir Kapoor. While accepting his Best Actor Award for Sanju during the Zee Cine Awards in Mumbai in March, Ranbir dedicated his trophy to his father and said that Rishi Kapoor often feels ‘insecure’ about his return to films hereafter.

"I would like to dedicate this award to very special people in my life, starting with my father. He is going through a little bit of a rough patch in his life and I have often heard that whenever you come at crossroads in your life, you can really tell who you are as a person. Whenever I speak to him, he only talks about movies. He only talks about 'How is this film?', 'How is this film doing?', 'How is this performance?', ‘What are you doing in this scene?’” Ranbir said during his acceptance speech.

The senior actor, also voices his concerns to his son, as Ranbir said, "And more so, he speaks to me about his insecurities that when he gets back, will he get to work in movies? Whether people will offer him films? Will he be able to act in movies?"

Ranbir’s speech made the audience emotional including his girlfriend Alia Bhatt, who was on stage at that point for she handed over the award to him.

In September 2018, Rishi Kapoor informed his fans and followers on Twitter that he was taking a "short leave from work" to go to the US for medical treatment because of the "wear and tear" caused due to working in Bollywood for over four decades.
