Another Bollywood superstar to join Varun Dhawan in ‘Rannbhoomi’

Even though it’s far in the making, Shashank Khaitan is busy looking for a male superstar who will play a strong role in his warrior film Rannbhoomi alongside Varun Dhawan. There will be two leading ladies as well and speculation is wild that one will be Alia Bhatt since this is a Dharma Productions film and Alia is Karan Johar’s protégé and also Varun’s co-star in Dharma’s Kalank later this month that’s directed by Abhishek Varman.

Varun’s plate is full for 2019-20. He will begin Rannbhoomi in early 2020 after completing his home production Coolie No. 1. Before that, Varun is busy working on Remo D’Souza’s Street Dancer with Shraddha Kapoor that producer Bhushan Kumar has clarified has got nothing to do with the ABCD dance-musical franchise. The film is under production and the unit was busy shooting in Punjab for the film that will release on November 8.

The actor, who has no time to breathe with the promotions of Kalank picking up tempo, will focus on Rannbhoomi after he getsCoolie No. 1 out of the way. The film, which will be directed by Papa David Dhawan who had helmed the original in 1995 starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor, will excitingly pair Varun with Sara Ali Khan. She was signed for Coolie No. 1 even before her debut film Kedarnath hit the screens.

Rannbhoomi will see Varun in the kind of action that he’s getting into the groove within Kalank. According to Shashank, “It’s a warrior film which showcases love, relationships, sacrifices, revenge, and heroism.” He began developing it in late 2015 and shared the idea with Varun who was excited. Varun’s last film, the social drama Sui Dhaaga of September 2018 opposite Anushka Sharma, did not fare well at the box office and the actor must now be rubbing his hands in glee with the exciting palette of films he’s got to look forward to.
