Varun Dhawan confirms he will star in the remake of Coolie No.1; Sara Ali Khan cast opposite him?

Varun Dhawan has responded to reports of his appearance in the remake of the hit 1995 film Coolie No.1 and confirmed the news to leading international website BBC Asian Network. Reports of Varun starring in the lead role in the Coolie No.1 remake surfaced last year and asked about it, the actor said that he has, indeed, signed up for the film.

"As I said it, I was like 'Should I say it?' But I think it's come out in so many places, that yeah,” Varun told BBC, adding that the remake will also be directed by his father, filmmaker David Dhawan. Coolie No.1 starred Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead roles and was directed by David Dhawan.

While several quarters were speculating Varun’s appearance in the remake, unconfirmed reports also said that Sara Ali Khan might star opposite him. While Varun refused to divulge details about the female lead of the project, he did clarify that Alia Bhatt, his co-star of films Student Of The Year, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, will not appear opposite him in the remake of Coolie No.1.

"I can't do every film with Alia. That you will know soon, I don't want to say that. But Alia and me are not working. We'll do something I think after...we'll give a little break to people because I think for everyone it's like, ‘Oh they are again back together. They feel we are like building friends. They come down and play together every time’," Varun added.

Last seen in Sui Dhaaga, Varun Dhawan’s upcoming releases include Kalank and Street Dancer.
