If I have a script for her, we will definitely work together: Sujoy Ghosh on reports of fallout with Vidya Balan

Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh has addressed reports of his fallout with Vidya Balan and said that he is willing to work with the actress if he has a script for her, a leading daily reports. Sujoy directed Vidya in the 2012 thriller Kahaani and also collaborated with her for the sequel to the film. Ahead of the release of Kahaani 2, Sujoy and Vidya engaged in a spat over the script of the film but reconciled later.

However, rumours of Vidya’s and Sujoy’s fallout continue to persist and asked about it, he told the daily, “When I chose to enter films, this is something I had signed up for as it’s a part of our profession. It’s like making films but expecting people to not criticise your work. Since I want to be in limelight, people will write about me, that’s a given. Tomorrow, if I have a script for Vidya, we will definitely work together.”

While Kahaani was a major success, Kahaani 2 released after demonetization and suffered at the box office. Sujoy, in fact, also admitted that Kahaani 2 was previously titled Durga Rani Singh and he should have finalized that as the name of the film.

“The sequel came in the week of demonetisation and that affected its commercial prospects. I wish it had done better. We upped the audience hype by calling it Kahaani 2. We should have gone with our original title, Durga Rani Singh, to keep expectations in check. You live and learn,” Sujoy added.
