The Kerala State Government announced the 49th Kerala State Film Awards today noon. For the declaration of the awards the cultural minister of the state, AK Balan held a press conference at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club. The jury for the awards was headed by Kumar Shahani. At the award ceremony, actors Jayasurya, Nimisha Sajayanand and Soubin Shahir shared the Best Actor awards. The jury declared Kaanthan, The Lover of Colour as the Best Film. According to reports, nearly 104 films were considered for awards this year and it was surprising to see no big names like Mohanlal, Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan on the list.
