Watch: Notebook producer Ashwin Varde says content driven cinema was always there, people have woken up just now

The trailer of Salman Khan’s upcoming production venture Notebook starring debutants Pranutan Bahl and Zaheer Iqbal was released today. The trailer looks highly promising with a tight storyline and picturesque cinematography. Pranutan and Zaheer even though it’s their first film do not look like novices. The film is directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Salman along with Murad Khetani and Ashwin Varde of Cine1 Studios.

During the trailer launch of the film, Ashwin was asked about the new turn Bollywood films have taken wherein content is now the king and big names do not necessarily spell big bucks at the box office. To this, he said, “Content was always the king. Content has always worked; people have just woken up last year. If content didn’t work then the films won’t work either. When the first Golmaal released starring Amol Palekar, it was the biggest hit of the year and that was during Amitabh Bachchan’s prime. So films with good content always work and that has always been there.”
