Kangana Ranaut shouldn’t be trolled for riding dummy horse in viral Manikarnika clip, says CBFC member

Kangana Ranaut invited the ire of trolls on Friday after a scene from her new film Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, in which she has been filmed riding a dummy horse during a war scene, went viral. But trolling Kangana, in this case, doesn’t make sense at all, Parag Chhapekar, digital entertainment journalist and member of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) said while speaking to PeepingMoon.

In the clip from Manikarnika, Kangana, cast as Rani Laxmibai in the film, is seen shooting for a war scene, riding a dummy horse on the battlefield. The video has been circulated online vehemently while Twitter kept itself busy by censuring Kangana. The scene in question has been filmed using VFX, Parag Chhapekar said, adding that the technology used to film the particular sequence, is good.

“It is not a subject of trolling at all. Technology used for shooting that particular scene is so good. If an artiste is portraying such a scene, and it looks convincing, what is the problem? It is VFX. Shah Rukh Khan and Arbaaz Khan use VFX in their films as well. Even in Hollywood films like Mission Impossible, VFX is used,” Parag Chhapekar told PeepingMoon.

During his conversation, Parag Chhapekar also said that the audience shouldn’t stress over the manner in which the scene has been shot if it looks convincing on screen.

“If the final product looks convincing, what is the matter?  How it has been shot, shouldn’t be a concern to viewers. The other horses used in the scene might be real, I don’t know, but no animals were harmed while the film was being shot. It’s good that such technology has been used,” he added. Animals aren’t allowed to be used in visual media as per the law in order to ensure that they aren’t ill-treated in the process.

On Twitter, meanwhile, Kangana has been the subject of trolls since Friday morning. “Even Tom Cruise can't do this level of stunt,” said one user while taking a jibe at the actress while several others posted the video with funny emoticons.
