After Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapoor to turn producer with Dingko Singh biopic?

Actor Shahid Kapoor is all set to portray former boxing champ and Asian Games gold medalist Dingko Singh on screen in a film, which will be directed by Raja Krishna Menon, who has earlier directed Airlift and Chef. The sports biopic, which was earlier expected to take off in January this year, is currently in scripting stages and will go on floors later this year.

Interestingly, we now hear that Shahid could be the latest to join the bandwagon of stars like Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra and others to debut as a producer for his upcoming Dingko Singh biopic. As per a report in a leading daily, Shahid will be co-producing the film with his director Raja Krishna Menon. Apparently, the actor has the rights to Dingko Singh's story and he only got the director on board to helm it.

The daily quoted a source as saying, "They have joined hands to produce the film. It will be shot primarily in Manipur, besides Delhi, while an international schedule is also being planned." Revealing that there have been several delays due to rewrites, the source added, "It’s a difficult script to write, so it has taken time, but it will go on the floors this year. Raja is currently putting the research together with his writers."

While Shahid will start boxing lessons in Mumbai under the guidance of a professional soon, he is busy shooting currently for Kabir Singh, a remake of the blockbuster south film Arjun Reddy, co-starring Kiara Advani.
