Deepika Padukone begins prep for Chhapaak, director Meghna Gulzar shares first photo

After taking a sabbatical for over a year, Deepika Padukone is all geared up for her next venture titled Chhapaak, which will see her portray the role of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Interestingly, the film, which is being directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Deepika, will feature the stunning actress in a disfigured avatar.

Now adding to everyone's excitement, the team has already begun prepping for the much-awaited film and director Meghna gave us the first glimpse from the sets on Instagram. In the picture posted by her, one can see a a yellow dupatta, which gives the impression as if it has been burnt.

Meanwhile, when asked about the film, Deepika revealed during the recently concluded glamour and style awards function, "I can just say that we have already started preparation. In fact we will start filming from next month."

Deepika announced the film based on Laxmi in December last year. Now 29, Laxmi survived a horrific acid attack in New Delhi in 2005 as she was attacked by a man whose proposal she had rejected. Chhapaak also stars Vikrant Massey in the lead opposite the actress.

Work wise, Deepika was last seen onscreen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat.
