Ayushmann Khurrana to play a cop in Anubhav Sinha’s upcoming drama?

2018 turned out to be a fabulous year for Ayushmann Khurrana with his films Badhaai Ho and AndhaDhun becoming phenomenal successes. With an electric mix of films ahead, we now hear that the actor has also signed Anubhav Sinha's next film, as reported by a leading daily. What's more? The film will feature Ayushmann playing a cop and donning the khaki uniform for the first time in his career.

The film, reportedly set in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, is expected to go on floors by the mid of this year. Going by the setting, the forthcoming cop-drama is tentatively titled Kanpur Dehaat. The daily quoted a source as saying, "A chunk of the film will be shot in Kanpur. Like other Ayushmann-starrers, this one too is high on content and on a socially-relevant topic. It is based on a true incident and Ayushmann will play a cop for the first time."

Well, we are certainly excited to see Ayushmann in a cop avatar.

The report further suggests that the makers are planning to release the film in the last quarter of this year. Although we await an official confirmation from Ayushamann or Anubhav, the actor had earlier told the daily, "Yes, I am in talks with Anubhav for a film but we have still not finalised on a lot of stuff."

Meanwhile, apart from Anubhav's film, he is currently busy shooting for Dream Girl and Bala.
