Will work with Kangana if I feel she is really required for a film, says Karan Johar

Filmmaker Karan Johar has spoken about working with Kangana Ranaut and said that he is willing to collaborate with her if he “feels like she is really required for a film”. In an interview with a leading website, KJo clarified that he hasn’t worked with the 31-year-old actress so far because no director has approached him with the desire to cast Kangana.

“I have no problem with her. Tomorrow, if I feel like she is really required for a film, I will work with her. The film I was directing didn’t have any scope for her, in my opinion, and no director has come to me with the desire to cast her. I, therefore, have not cast her. No lead actor has asked for her. Just because we had personal differences doesn’t mean we are not going to work together,” Karan told the website.

As far as “personal differences” are concerned, we’ll elaborate on Karan’s and Kangana’s history in case you aren’t aware of it. It all started with Kangana’s appearance on KJo’s celebrity chat show Koffee With Karan in 2017 during which she referred to the filmmaker as the "flag-bearer of nepotism.” On Koffee With Karan, Kangana had also said that Karan would star as a “stereotypical Bollywood biggie who is snooty and completely intolerant to outsiders. Flag-bearer of nepotism, the movie mafia,” in her biopic if that is ever made.

Kangana and Karan, thereafter, were involved in an indirect exchange of words through here and there but it was kinda resolved after the actress made an appearance on a reality show in 2018 in which KJo was part of the jury. Well, it’s seemingly all good now, it appears.

Karan, moreover, also added during his interview, “If the film demands a Kangana, if a filmmaker wants her then, why not? It’s a commercial deal and there are no emotions involved in commerce.”

Kangana Ranaut’s new film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi released on January 25.
