Ahead of the release of her Bollywood debut film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Ankita Lokhande has been asked about her equation with ex-boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput during her promotions quite often. Similarly, during her interview with a leading website, Ankita was asked whether exes can be friends, and her answer was brief but cutting enough while she also cited Deepika Padukone’s and Ranbir Kapoor’s example. We’ll elaborate.
Ankita and Sushant dated for six years before separating in 2016. To a question on whether exes can maintain a cordial relationship, Ankita told the website, “Depends on their history. I won't rule it out, Deepika-Ranbir are a case in point."

Deepika and Ranbir, co-stars of films Bachna Ae Haseeno, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Tamasha, dated for two years before parting ways but maintain an amicable relationship. Even after their break-up, Deepika and Ranbir did films as well as walked the ramp at the Mijwan Fashion Show in 2018.
Nevertheless, while speaking of Sushant, Ankita also clarified, "We are not on talking terms."

Before venturing into films, Ankita and Sushant appeared together in the principal roles in the hit television series Pavitra Rishta. Sushant made his debut in Bollywood with Kai Po Che in 2013 and subsequently appeared in the films Shuddh Desi Romance, PK, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story and Raabta. His film Kedarnath released in December.
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead role, is scheduled to release on January 25.
