2019 Lok Sabha Polls: Comedian Krushna Abhishek to contest from Mumbai North on a Congress ticket?

Comedian Krushna Abhishek, who has currently seen on The Kapil Sharma Show and has acted in several films as well, might contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Mumbai North on a Congress ticket, as reported by a leading daily. For the uninitiated, his uncle and Bollywood actor Govinda had fought and won from the same constituency in 2004.

As per the report, the Congress is seriously considering his candidature as the party was struggling to find an inhouse nominee for Mumbai North. In fact, Krushna met Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam recently to discuss the move.

Stating that the party also wants a fresh face, a senior party functionary told the daily, "Krushna met Nirupam and it looks like he is interested (in Mumbai North). He is Govinda’s nephew and a popular face. Given his background, he will be a good candidate for us, especially since there is no strong candidate in the party for this particular seat."

Although the final decision on his candidature will be taken by Congress party boss Rahul Gandhi, Krushna confirmed his decision to take a plunge into politics by mentioning, "We had a meeting. I am still in talks with the Congress for contesting from North Mumbai, which my uncle Govinda once represented."

It looks like Krushna is all set to step into his uncle's shoes once again!
