WATCH: Deepika Padukone reveals what led her to quit badminton and become an actor

Deepika Padukone is undoubtedly one of the finest actresses in the Indian film fraternity and her career graph is proof enough of it. While her choice of films has been unconventional, Deepika left everyone impressed when she opened up about battling depression in the year 2015. In fact, on Wednesday, the stunning actress attended the launch of a book, titled The Dot That Went For A Walk, which features a chapter on her fight against depression.
What's more? Deepika spoke at length about several things, including the reason behind her quitting Badminton and choosing to become an actor instead. Since her father is none other than former Indian badminton player Prakash Padukone, it was imperative for her to follow his career trajectory, however, it was the voice inside her and her gut feeling which changed her life forever.
Talking about it, she said, "Even before I realised I started playing professional badminton but it’s when I was a teenager I realised that may be this is not something that I want to continue and pursue an play professionally and every time I watched a movie somehow I felt like that’s where I belonged."

Meanwhile, on the work front, Deepika will next be seen in Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak, based on the true story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
