Madhur Bhandarkar is back in action with 'Inspector Ghalib'; to be based on Uttar Pradesh's sand mafia

Madhur Bhandarkar has several renowned films like Page 3, Fashion, Heroine to his credit, however his last directorial, Indu Sarkar, failed to create a buzz among the audience. Now the filmmaker is back in action after a hiatus of two years and will be making a film about the sand mafia in Uttar Pradesh. Tentatively titled Inspector Ghalib, Madhur's next is also said to be based real-life events and he is keen to rope in an A-lister for his quirky-action drama.

A source close to the project told a leading daily, "The film will be set against the backdrop of sand mafia in Uttar Pradesh. Madhur has been researching on the subject for sometime. Although the story is based on a real-life incident, he will give it a larger-than-life treatment." The report further states that the project is in its pre-production stage and the filmmaker has been finalising locations, cast and the technical team. "The plan is to take it on the floors around May. To lend authenticity to the story, a major chunk of the film will be shot in UP," the source added.

When Madhur was prodded about his forthcoming project, he confirmed that he is making the film although "it is too early to divulge more details at this point."

Well, we certainly cannot wait to know more and it would be interesting to see him helm a film with a male protagonist, unlike his previous projects.
