The trailer of Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming film Gully Boy is releasing on January 9 and in case you need to set a reminder for it, turn to actors Ranveer Singh’s and Alia Bhatt’s Instagram handles. The Gully Boy stars posted snippets of their characters from the film in short clips with the caption, “#GullyBoyTrailer drops tomorrow.” We can’t wait, though, but that’s a separate story.

Gully Boy casts Ranveer as a street rapper from Mumbai and the trailer announcement video was released last week in which the 33-year-old actor was seen rapping Asli Hip Hop. The clip also featured snippets of his life, set in the slums of Mumbai. Ranveer’s character in Gully Boy is inspired by rapper Divine’s life.

Of his role in Gully Boy, Ranveer had said previously, "It is a very special story, one that I am closely attached to. It is set against the backdrop of flourishing desi hip hop scene coming out of Bombay. It is the story which represents Mumbai in its true sense and the city is my home town, these are my people, this is my language, so this is the story I am really attached to. It's an underdog story about a kid who broke through from great adversity in life to make it as a recording artiste.”
Gully Boy also stars Kalki Koechlin and is scheduled to release on February 14.
