Sonam Kapoor in a career spanning a decade in Bollywood has been ridiculed, written-off, hailed as well as applauded for her performances, film choices and for her statements. However, the trailer of her much-awaited film Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga that released yesterday has been well-received and hailed for being the first mainstream Bollywood film that portrays same-sex love on the big screen without adhering to stereotypes.
While, the trailer definitely teased the plotline, we don’t get to actually see the actress who is playing the love interest of Sonam in the film. However, reportedly, South actress Regina Cassandra will play Sonam’s love interest Kuku in the film. Regina has done several films in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada film industry and was last seen in the film Party. She will be making her Bollywood debut with Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga.

Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga brings Anil Kapoor and Sonam for the first time together in a film. It is also a reunion for Anil and Juhi Chawla. For the most part of the trailer, one is made to believe that Sonam’s character is in love with Rajkummar Rao but the revelation comes in the form of one word, ‘secret’, that spills the beans and makes the audience feel that this is not going to be a regular boy-meets-girl love story.
The film is directed by Shelly Chopra Dhar and is set to release on February 1, 2019.
