Hoping to make Simmba 2,3,4,5,6: Ranveer Singh on audience reaction to the film

Ranveer Singh, after a month-long wedding celebration with wife Deepika Padukone, is back in action for his upcoming action-comedy Simmba under the banner of action king Rohit Shetty. The film helmed by Rohit also features debutante Sara Ali Khan who recently made a mind-blowing entry to the industry with Abhishek Kapoor's Kedarnath. The film, which released today, has been receiving excellent reviews so far. Ranveer, recently, in a long promotional day opened up about Simmba as a character, its genre, winning an award for it and a lot more.

Ranveer talked about how Simmba aka 'Sangram Bhaleroa' as a cop character is very unabashed and doesn't hesitate to say that he’s corrupt. "If it feels like something you have seen before then we fail and the endeavour is to create so many distinctions that the character can have his own identity. We definitely want to take this character forward. We’re hoping that Simmba would be loved by audiences so we can make Simmba 2,3,4,5,6 and we worked extra hard and did extra homework to make sure that the character is distinctively like, 'Simmba will be Simmba.' Hopefully, the audience will recognize that. But the verdict will be out over the weekend I am sure we will get to know whether we have succeeded or failed," shared the man of the hour.

When asked if Ranveer thinks he will win an award for Simmba, the actor quickly said, "I have to say, it’s not for me to decide whether my performance is award worthy or not. It is amongst my best works because it’s something…really if you see it from performer’s point of view; you have done all the genres in one film. You have done romance and comedy, and action and drama. Drama is intense. So, for me, from performer’s point of view and as a professional, as part of a team, you know, no too many people understand how painstaking it is to make a masala film. Not enough credit is given to the makers of the genre. It’s amazing to win awards."

Recently Ranveer won the year's first award at Star Screen Awards for Padmaavat.
