Exclusive: Gauahar Khan replaces Anupriya Goenka in digital series ‘Salt City’

Model-turned-actress Gauahar Khan, who has been away from arc-light for a while now, is set to woo the viewers once again with a new digital series. Yes, you read that right! We have learnt from our reliable sources that the gorgeous actress has been signed on to play the female lead in an upcoming web-show, tentatively titled Salt City.

Sources also reveal that Gauahar was not the first choice for the role. Before she was roped in to play the part, the makers had signed Anupriya Goenka to be the female lead. Goenka, who rose to fame after playing small but significant roles in such films as Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Padmaavat (2018), had even tested for the role.

However, later it turned out that she was no longer associated with the project. Though it is not confirmed what led to her exit from the series, a source close to the development divulged that Anupriya had started giving a tough time to the makers even before the production began. And when the makers found her extremely difficult to handle, they decided to replace her immediately.

Well, Anupriya Goenka’s loss has definitely turned out to be Gauahar Khan’s gain. Someone has very rightly said that someone’s loss is always another’s gain and the same has been proved yet again and how!

Khan, who has starred in films like Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year (2009), Ishaqzaade (2012) and Begum Jaan (2017), has also won the seventh season of Salman Khan’s controversial reality show Bigg Boss in 2013.

The web-show that she is presently shooting for is bankrolled by Sunshine Productions, the same production house which has previously produced a series of successful television shows, including Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha, Miley Jab Hum Tum, 12/24 Karol Bagh and Gulmohar Grand, to name just a few.
