Box Office: Rajinikanth’s and Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 beats Dangal; all set to surpass Rs 400 crore mark

After starting its box office run on a rather slow note, Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's 2.0 is faring exceptionally well at the box office, both domestic and worldwide. The S Shankar directorial has not only become the highest grosser of the year globally having collected over Rs 600 crore mark, it has also become the the third highest grossing film of all time at the Indian box office.

What's more? The film is quickly racing towards the Rs 400 crore mark domestically and has already beaten Aamir Khan's Dangal in 13 days of its release. For the unversed, Dangal made around Rs 380 crore at the Indian box-office and 2.0 and inched beyond it. The two films that are now ahead of Rajinikanth and Akshay starrer are the two Baahubali films.

Interestingly, 2.0 is currently enjoying a free run as there are no notable film release at least for another ten days. The two upcoming big films are Shah Rukh Khan's Zero, releasing on December 21, and Ranveer Singh's Simmba, slated to hit the theatres on December 28. Internationally, 2.0 might face a clash with Hollywood releases Aquaman and the animated Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.

Meanwhile, 2.0 will also be releasing in China on 56,000 screens (including 47,000 3D screens) in May 2019 and it'll be interesting to note how it performs there.
