Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film Zero is what the universe has been waiting for in anticipation for reasons more than one including the fact that it also features veteran actress Sridevi in a cameo. While several quarters of the press claimed that Sridevi will appear in a song in Zero, director Aanand L Rai told PeepingMoon during a press meet in Mumbai on December 1 that it’s more than just a special number.
Zero, unfortunately, marks Sridevi’s last appearance in a film as it was the project she was involved with prior to her death in February. For Mr. Rai, as well, it was a bittersweet experience as he clarified that Sridevi filmed a special sequence for Zero and not just a song.

“Like any other director, it was my dream to work with Sridevi. I don’t know whether this is a blessing in disguise or I can’t say, I ended up working with her for a day. It’s not a song but Sridevi shot for a proper sequence and it will be out soon,” Mr. Rai said.
Sridevi, star of films, Sadma, Mr. India, Chandni, Lamhe, Judaai, English Vinglish and Mom, died in Dubai on February 24. She was in UAE for her husband, filmmaker Boney Kapoor’s nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding. Her sudden demise left the world in a state of shock as millions paid tribute to her while she was cremated with state honours in Mumbai.
“At that time, when I was shooting with her, I never thought that this would be her last work. I don’t know whether I should be happy or sad that her last work was with me,” Mr. Rai added.
Zero reportedly features several other celebrities including Alia Bhatt, Rani Mukerji, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kajol, in special appearances.

The film casts Shah Rukh Khan as a vertically-challenged man and co-stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. Zero is scheduled to release on December 21.
