Priyanka Chopra hosted a live-athon at Facebook’s Mumbai office on Monday in which she discussed a lot of things. One of the most important and pressing points was how people troll and post negative comments on social media. In one of the panels mediated by Priyanka, Janhvi Kapoor spoke about how her half-sister Anshula Kapoor received rape threats over a frivolous and ‘silly’ thing that they did on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan.
Talking about the abuse that Anshula received on social media, Janhvi said, “You want to protect the people in your life. Like for example my sister actually just recently got trolled on social media. She did something silly on Koffee with Karan and started getting like rape threats and stuff. And it was just weird to me. As people are faceless on social media, they feel they can have opinions that sometimes cross a moral line. So when I put stuff that’s personal up on social media, I do think of that too. I feel protective towards them... what people might say about them or about my equation with them. You tend to be guarded.”

Priyanka assumed that Janhvi was speaking about her younger sister Khushi Kapoor but Janhvi explained that it was her elder half-sister Anshula who became the target of trolls. Janhvi had appeared on the show with her half-brother Arjun Kapoor where Karan made them play a game.

They were supposed to call someone and ask them to say, “Hey Karan, it's me,” and the first person to do that will get the point. Janhvi called up Anshula but Arjun yelled from behind that if she wants him to come home then she shouldn’t say the words. Anshula ended up siding with Arjun and Jahnvi lost the point. Arjun went on to win the pop quiz game.

At the show, Janhvi quipped that she felt like an “unloved child”. Later on, when she shared a throwback picture of herself with Anshula many of her fans questioned her that why her sister did not help her. Janhvi cleared the air and replied to one comment stating that Anshula could not hear her properly and hence kept mum. However, the trolls on the internet were not so forgiving and started issuing rape threats to Anshula for not helping Janhivi win.
