Renuka Shahane is all set to helm a Hindi film nine years after she made her directorial debut. Her first film was Rita, a Marathi film starring Pallavi Joshi and Jackie Shroff. The film is backed by Siddharth P Malhotra and is likely to go on floors in mid-2019. The film is a family drama titled Tribhanga and will have three female leads. Renuka is hoping to rope in Shabana Azmi, Kajol and Mithila Palkar for these roles.
A source told a leading daily, “She has been on the lookout for strong performers to play the female leads in her project. She is keen to rope in Shabana Azmi, Kajol and Mithila Palkar for the same. Renuka recently met Shabana as well as Kajol and both of them have shown keen interest in it. But they are yet to work out the modalities and sign on the dotted line.”

Renuka confirmed about her film but did not divulge details about it. She told the leading daily, “I’m directing a film after nine years. It’s called Tribhanga and is about three women, who belong to different generations. The cast has not been finalized yet, so I can’t speak about it now.”
It will be interesting to see these three charismatic, versatile and spontaneous actors coming together if they agree to be a part of the film. Shabana is a veteran who has successfully acted in both commercial as well as off-beat cinema. Kajol is a firebrand and Mithila has impressed one-and-all with her performances in several web series and has acted in both Marathi as well as Hindi films.
