Preity Zinta lashes out at senior journalist for taking her #MeToo comment out of context

Preity Zinta is looking forward to the release of her upcoming film Bhaiaji Superhit opposite Sunny Deol and has been promoting the film vigorously. In a series of interviews that she gave yesterday, she also spoke about the #MeToo movement that took social media and the industry by storm last month.

However, her comment on the sexual harassment and the horrifying experiences that women shared were taken out of context and the actress took to social media to express her disappointment with the senior journalist who did that. Preity took to the social media and lashed out at the journalist for misquoting her and editing her interview on the #MeToo movement in a controversial way.

About the movement, Preity had said, “I think It's important that this whole Me Too Movement has started but it is also important that women use it for the right thing because there are men and women who would use the position of their power for their advantage. There are small percentage of women that are using it, and they’re diluting the movement but there are also women who have gone through all these and we have heard so many stories in the industry."

The actress was further asked if she has ever experienced any kind of bad behaviour in the industry to which Preity replied, “No, I haven’t, I wish I had,” she laughed. “People treat you the way you want to be treated,” she added.  Her reply, “No, I haven’t, I wish I had,” here actually meant that if someone had tried to misbehave with her she would have not taken it lying down and actually would have beaten him up. Preity had to clarify her statement as she was being trolled on social media and received a lot of criticisms for her comments.
