It is almighty's blessings that Kedarnath is able to see light of the day: Abhishek Kapoor

Abhishek Kapoor’s ambitious project Kedarnath is finally nearing its release date. The trailer of the film starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan in the lead was launched today and it has already generated quite a buzz amongst the audience. The film saw many hurdles and at one time there was speculation whether it will be shelved. However, it was Abhishek’s grit and determination that saw the project through and now the film will release on December 7.

During the trailer launch today, Abhishek spoke at length about Kedarnath and shared the difficulties and what propelled him to tell this story. He said, “We have made Kedarnath with huge difficulty. It was almighty's blessings that the film is able to see the light of the day.”

Talking about how Ronnie Screwvala stepping in at the last minute as producer and getting the project out of the doldrums, he said, “This is my third film with Ronnie and it’s been incredible. This has been fantastic, actually, this film was not being produced by him but then when I was in trouble and that’s when he walked in as the producers like my knight in shining armour.”

The film Kedarnath is set at the backdrop of the devastating 2013 flash floods that ravaged the valley. Talking about the natural calamity Abhishek said, “In 2013 when this incident happened, I saw the people who suffered and what they went through so I thought to myself that people should know this story. I’m very fortunate that I got a chance to make this story into a film. Our society has suffered a huge blow with the 2013 incident. This is my contribution to society with Kedarnath to address what all the people went through at that time.”

He further added, “The entire film is based on the journey and we’ve shown everything. Logo ki shraddha and pyaar hai ki vo itni khatinaayo ke sath bhi darshan ke liyejaate hai (It’s the people’s faith, love and devotion that in spite of such hardship and trouble they still come on this pilgrimage).” He also said, “I don’t make films to earn money only, I want a message to be passed on to the society and that’s why I make a film.”
