No heroine cast opposite Abhishek Bachchan in Anurag Basu’s film? Here’s what we know so far

Anurag Basu began filming his new project in October and it comprises four stories, featuring an ensemble cast including Abhishek Bachchan. His role, though, is different from the rest as his story doesn’t involve a romantic angle because of which no female lead has been cast opposite him, a leading daily reports. Abhishek, in fact, has shot parts of his role in Kolkata and was on a break for his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s birthday.

“Abhishek doesn’t have a heroine opposite him in the film. In fact, his is the only segment in the anthology that doesn’t have a romantic angle. He has shot some portions in Kolkata and will resume work now that he’s back from his holiday to Goa with wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya,” the daily quoted a source as saying.

Pictures of Abhishek from the sets of the film in Kolkata found its way online as several were of the opinion that his look was similar to that of his character from Mani Ratnam’s 2004 film Yuva. The source, though, explained his role in Anurag’s film and said, “He plays a local goon. Hence, he has this look throughout the film. The plot revolves around his backstory, which is quite emotional.”

According to the report, Anurag’s film also features Saif Ali Khan, Rajkummar Rao, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Aditya Roy Kapur in different segments. Sources also told the daily that Anurag will shoot their portions once their dates are clear.

Abhishek was last seen in Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan, which cast him on screen after a hiatus of two years.
