He tried to put his hand in my pants: Saqib Saleem shares his #MeToo story

Not just women but several male actors from the Hindi film industry have also opened up about their disturbing experience of sexual harassment in the wake of the #MeToo movement that has encompassed the nation. Huma Qureshi’s brother, actor Saqib Saleem, in an interview with a leading daily, has revealed that a man attempted to assault him during his initial period in the film industry.

“I don’t want to take names, but when I started out as an actor - I was only 21-years-old- there was a man who tried to assault me. He tried to put his hand in my pants,” Saqib told the daily.

Saqib, however, didn’t spare the man and “whacked” him but the incident affected him severely as he deemed sexual offenders as ‘horrible people’.

“When it happened with me, I whacked the guy and I told him to mind his own f***ing business and I left. I was 21, and of course, it scarred me, but I moved on. I’m sure that everyone’s different and an incident such as this must affect different people differently. These stories are heartbreaking and sexual offenders are horrible people,” Saqib said, adding that he empathizes with every girl who has endured the wrath of abuse.

Saqib made his debut in Bollywood with Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge in 2011 and subsequently appeared in the films Mere Dad Ki Maruti, Dishoom and Dil Juunglee. He was last seen in Race 3.
