Varun Dhawan and Shashank Khaitan is a hit pair as the duo has given two hits together under Karan Johar's Dharma Productions’ banner. Their films Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhani both went on to do terrific business at the box office and they were supposed to team up again for Ranbhoomi, an epic war saga. However, we had previously reported that the project has been postponed and Varun and Shashank will reunite for another exciting project.
The film in question is said to be the story of an Indian spy and we had reported that the scripting has been completed and an official announcement will be made soon. Now Shashank has confirmed the development and told a leading daily, “Yes, I’m doing an action entertainer with Varun. We are still scripting the movie. It’s something both he and I have never done before.”

The daily also reported that the film is going to be made on the lines of Jack Ryan or the Jason Bourne series. The daily reported, “It’s a spy thriller in which Varun plays a special agent. It’s an innovative idea and all three of them (Karan, Varun and Shashank) want to present it differently. They are also planning to get renowned Hollywood stunt experts to design the film’s action.”
As for Rannbhoomi that has been put down on the backburner as the director is gung-ho about his spy thriller and wants to concentrate on that.
