Anushka Sharma cheers Virat Kohli as he receives Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awards, view pics

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli on Tuesday was presented with country’s highest sporting honour, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award by President Ram Nath Kovind. Virat was cheered on by wife and actress Anushka Sharma, mother Saroj Kohli and brother Vikas Kohli as he became the only the third cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni to receive the honour.

Virat is the world’s No1 Test batsman as per the ICC rankings and has been in terrific form since the past three years, often dedicating his tons and centuries to his actress wife. He had been a top contender for the award since the past two years but missed out on the award.

Anushka who has been in the capital for the ongoing promotions of her forthcoming film Sui Dhaaga-Made in India was seen wearing a Sabyasachi tussar georgette saree lined with old tulal borders and paired with a hazar-buti blouse. She completed her look with huge polka statement earrings. Swelling with pride the actress was overjoyed on seeing her cricketer husband receiving the honour.

The actress did not congratulate the cricketer on social media but ensured that she did not miss on his achievement by being there to witness the moment and his career’s milestone.

Virat took to Twitter to express his gratitude to President Ram Nath Kovind after receiving the award.

On the work front, Anushka is looking forward to the release of her film Sui Dhaaga-Made in India opposite Vaun Dhawan. The film releases on September 28. She will also be seen in Aanand L Rai’s Zero opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif.
