Sui Dhaaga: Varun Dhawan explains how an accident on set was incorporated in the film

Varun Dhawan is excited about the release of his new film Sui Dhaaga and described his experience of filming it with Anushka Sharma. But please note that shooting for Sui Dhaaga wasn’t all fun and games because the lead cast was often required to film challenging scenes that also led to injuries. Varun and Anushka, in fact, also met with a minor accident on the set of Sui Dhaaga and that scene has been incorporated in the film as well.

In a particular scene in the film, Varun and Anushka cycle down a highway and while filming it, the 31-year-old actor lost his balance and fell off. Anushka suffered minor bruises. "The sequence required them to cycle as a truck overtakes them. During the fourth take, Varun lost his balance and the two tumbled down. Anushka suffered bruises on her arm,” a unit hand told a leading daily.

Director Sharat Katariya, in the meantime, was of the opinion that this sequence will depict Mamta’s (Anushka) and Mauji’s (Varun) struggle and hence, will be an instrumental part in the film. Varun, however, said that filming the scene in question was “exhausting” as he had to cycle relentlessly in the hot weather in Chanderi.

"When Sharat saw the take, he felt that the fall symbolised the leads' struggle. So he added the shot in the story. The shoot was exhausting as it required me to cycle for long hours in the scorching heat in Chanderi. We fell off the cycle and landed right near the cliff. The crew immediately rushed to check on us,” Varun told the daily.

That certainly, is some herculean task!

Sui Dhaaga espouses self-reliance and narrates a story inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy. The plotline also gives impetus to the Make In India campaign.

Sui Dhaaga is scheduled to release on September 28.
