Dharmendra says he knew Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 was ‘rubbish’ while working on it

Veteran actor Dharmendra is all set to appear onscreen with Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se – the third part of the franchise, co-starring his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol. Yamla Pagla Deewana released in 2011 and was received well at the box-office following which its sequel was made two years later. Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, however, did not fare as expected and Dharmendra, in an interview with a news agency, has now said that he was aware of the fact that it might not do well.

The 82-year-old actor said that the screenplay of Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 wasn’t good enough. The film, in fact, was “rubbish”, he added, saying that he had informed the crew that he wasn’t enjoying filming it.

“We had to make a sequel, but it was taking time, things were not falling into place and then even the screenplay wasn't good. I knew while doing the film that it's rubbish and had told the crew that I'm not enjoying shooting it. One knows whether it's going right or not,” Dharmendra was quoted as saying by the news agency.

As far as Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se is concerned, Dharmendra said that he loved the script after listening to it over and over again while the cast and crew have worked hard on it.

“I heard this story several times, and I liked it. I really enjoyed listening to the script, and we all have tried to make it as nice as possible. Hope the audience enjoys it now,” he added.

Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se co-stars Kriti Kharbanda and is scheduled to release on August 31.
