Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi: Kangan looks fearless in 1st poster; exudes power and patriotism

Kangana Ranaut’s ambitious project Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi‘s first poster has been released and we must say Kangana is looking fearless playing Rani Laxmibai. The makers released the first official poster to honour the warrior queen who was part of India’s first freedom struggle in 1857. Rani Laxmibai holds a special place in the annals of Indian history because of her unmatched courage, grit and determination. Even today her name is taken with reverence and respect.

Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi has been directed by Krish and was in the works for quite some time but now looking at the poster we can say that the wait was totally worth it. Talking about the warrior queen to a leading daily, Kangana said that the warrior queen’s story remains relevant to women of today. She told the daily, “The Queen of Jhansi is a symbol of strength and courage. Even today if we want to refer to someone as fierce, we say she is like Jhansi ki Rani. I believe her story is a blockbuster with or without any cinematic interpretation. A woman like her doesn't need any validation, and will be remembered for years to come."

Pointing out the current situation where women have come forward with #MeToo movement speaking out on sexual abuse, violence against women and harassment, the Queen actor said that a film like Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi is necessary to instill courage and valour in today’s woman. Kangana told the daily, “This is the story of courage, and people need to be reminded of the woman who single-handedly took on the British Raj. It is essentially about a fiery woman who died fighting for her soil. We need to celebrate such icons, who can inspire women around us."

Kangana went under a rigorous physical training for her role as Rani Laxmibai. She said, “I learned sword fighting and horse riding. I got fever after galloping on a horse for two days; I can only imagine the nerves of steel that Rani Laxmibai had. I have played the character to the best of my ability." We must say her efforts have really pulled off and she is looking awesome in the poster.

Produced by Zee Studios, in association with Kamal Jain, and directed by Krrish, the film is slated to release on January 25, 2019.
