Sui Dhaaga: Made in India: Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma talk about financial struggles

The trailer of Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan’s Sui Dhaaga-Made in India, launched today, showcased the actors in a humdrum and ordinary avatar, trying to make ends meet through hard work and sheer determination. Anushka and Varun play a married couple in the film who tries to make it big by starting their own enterprise. During the trailer launch, the duo spoke about the financial struggles that they faced in their lives and recounted stories from their childhood.

Anushka while speaking about her family’s financial struggle said, “There was one time when I was supposed to dance in a school dance competition and the school was asking for some money for the costumes. My parents asked me about the cost and my mother told me that they can’t pay as there were other expenses to be met and I was devastated because I was losing out on the opportunity. As a child, you don’t realize what all your parents are doing for you.”

On the other hand, Varun recounted the time his father David Dhawan’s four films flopped in a row and his remuneration and credibility came down because of it. He said, “Though my father is one of the most successful film directors in the industry when four films of his flopped consecutively he had to take a remuneration drop. We were planning to buy a new house at that time but had to drop our plans. It was a sudden change. My father has come from very humble beginnings, in fact when I was born, I was born in a one-bedroom flat. I was too small when this happened but I remember my mother telling us that we can’t have everything that we want.”
