GOLD is about Indian hockey team’s first gold medal win for an independent India. The actor is excited about the film and is confident that the audience would love the story, which he says was ‘important to be told’. In the film, Akshay plays the character of Tapan Das, the manager of the team, who motivates and brings together the 11 hockey players to play to win gold.

GOLD, produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, also stars Kunal Kapoor, Sunny Kaushal, Amit Sadh and Vineet Singh. The film will clash with John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee starrer Satyameva Jayate.
