Ranveer and Ranbir in talks to play the role of Gulshan Kumar in Aamir Khan backed Mogul?

Now that Akshay Kumar has stepped out of the film Mogul, two of the brightest talents of today Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh are in the reckoning to play the role of T-Series honcho Bhushan Kumar’s father Gulshan Kumar in his biopic. The film is written and directed by Subhash Kapoor and is being produced by Bhushan and Aamir Khan. Apparently, Bhushan is keen on getting either Ranveer or Ranbir to essay the role of his father in the biopic and is even ready to pay a humongous amount to whichever actor gives his assent.

An entertainment portal reported, “Earlier, Akshay Kumar was in talks to play the lead but he opted out apparently over creative differences on the script. Bhushan is keen for Ranveer or Ranbir to play the main lead of his father’s role and has approached both with the script. Mogul is Bhushan’s dream project and very close to his heart. He is keen to start the project as soon as possible, and with a bigger star than Akshay. There were rumours of Aamir Khan and Salman Khan playing the main lead too. Aamir is co-producing Mogul with Bhushan. Salman is very close to Bhushan and Aamir.”

Since Aamir is the co-producer on the film and will invariably be giving his creative inputs and Bhushan is willing to shell out the money it is only a matter of time that Ranveer or Ranbir gives their nod to the project. However, there has been no confirmation from the producers and when Bhushan was contacted the portal reported him saying, “We haven’t approached any actor. Aamir will take the call on the actor as he is producing the film with me. We at T-Series don’t have any preferences as Aamir will decide at the right time.”

Ranbir is the toast-of-the-town since he delivered Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju and played Sanjay Dutt on screen. He is busy filming for Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra with Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt. Lined up next is, Karan Malhotra’s Shamshera opposite Sanjay Dutt and then Luv Ranjan’s film with Ajay Devgn.

Ranveer, at the moment, is currently shooting for Rohit Shetty’s Simmba with Sara Ali Khan. He has already wrapped up Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy alongside Alia. After this, he will dive into his first biopic, titled ’83 based on cricketer Kapil Sharma.

Both Ranbir and Ranveer have delivered epic performances this year in Sanju and Padmaavat. It will be interesting to see who bags the role. We have Ranbir, who has recently worked on a biopic and then there’s Ranveer, who will be taking up a biopic next. Will either of the actors be willing to gear up for yet another biopic? The competition here is truly close-knit, we’re waiting for the final word!
