When Rishi Kapoor fell flat on Rajkumar Hirani’s mother’s feet for his son Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor’s father Rishi Kapoor is a veteran actor but his unpredictable behaviour, fiery temper and not-so-diplomatic talk keep him in the news more often than his films. In an old interview, Ranbir had talked about how his father had criticized director Anurag Basu for delaying Jagga Jasoos and also music director Pritam Chakraborty. Rishi had blamed the film’s debacle on the director even though Ranbir had co-produced and starred in the film with his ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif. Ranbir in a Twitter Q&A had also revealed that he himself is pretty scared of his father and usually conveys his messages through mother Neetu Kapoor.

However, in the same interview, Ranbir reiterated that Rishi is very concerned about him and his sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and that is why he reacts in such a way. Ranbir recalled an incident which will certify Rishi’s unpredictable behaviour. He narrated an instance when Rishi fell flat on Rajkumar Hirani’s mother’s feet.

Apparently, Rishi was so impressed with Hirani after watching his film Lage Raho Munnabhai, that he went up to the director’s house and expressed a wish that Hirani works with Ranbir in one of his films. Rishi told Hirani’s mother that his son is a genius and he should work with Ranbir at some point in time.

After doing a cameo in PK, Ranbir and Hirani teamed up for the Sanjay Dutt’s biopic Sanju and as they say, the rest is history. The film has broken box office records left, right and centre and is all set to break a few more on its dream run at the theatres. It has already entered the Rs 300 crore club and is not looking to stop anytime soon. Besides Ranbir, the film also stars Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Vicky Kaushal and Karishma Tanna.
