Jackie Dada thrilled to be making web series debut

Whoever said you cannot teach an old dog new tricks has not encountered Bollywood’s grizzled veteran Jackie Shroff. The actor, who made his debut in Subhash Ghai’s romantic action film Hero way back in 1983, is now preparing to take his first steps in the digital space. Jackie has reportedly started shooting for a web series that is an adaptation of the 2008 British series Criminal Justice. The actor, who has worked in films in as many as 11 languages, is finding the new medium exciting because it offers him a new opportunity.

Jackie, who shares the digital space in the web series with Vikrant Massey, Pankaj Tripathi, Mita Vashist and Anupriya Goenka, says he was really impressed with the storyline of Criminal Justice that has been adapted for Indian audiences by Shridhar Raghavan. “The script brought out a host of emotions in me and I hope it does that to the viewers too,” Jackie said. He is aware that the digital platform is expanding rapidly and is thankful to be part of this growth.

Isn’t an actor just emoting and expressing or acting before a camera no matter what he is shooting for? And the shooting process should not be vastly different for a web series and film especially for an actor who’s been in the profession for close to four decades? But yet, hear how delightfully Jackie describes his break in the web series, “The sky has opened up and I am a part of the universe. I have always tried to be a true blue Aquarian. I have been experimenting with television right from when it first started. So for me, it has always been a step ahead, I had to be a part of this.” Way to go, Dada!
