There was a major clash looming on the horizon but thankfully it has been averted. Director Kabir Khan’s biopic on former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev titled ’83 and starring Ranveer Singh was all set to clash with Sajid Nadiadwala and Nitesh Tiwari’s untitled film starring Sushant Singh Rajput previously. Both the films were scheduled to release on August 30, 2019. However, now Kabir’s film’s release date has been postponed to April 10, 2020.
The clash between Ranveer’s and Sushant’s film was interesting because Kabir had recently assented to directing a film for Sajid Nadiadwala, and Sajid was also producing Sushant’s film. So obviously a new found collaboration cannot start on a competition. However, now that the two films will not clash at the box office it will be a sense of relief for the producer.

However, now Ranveer will have to fight it out with rumoured girlfriend Deepika Padukone’s first Hollywood co-star Vin Diesel at the box office. The next installment of Diesel’s popular film franchise Fast and Furious is also going to release on April 10, 2020. The film is titled Fast and Furious 9 and will surely have a big draw at the theatres as the franchise is very popular in India and has many fans. Deepika starred opposite Diesel in xXx: The Return of the Xander Cage.

Ranveer’s ’83 might also star Nawazuddin Siddiqui who has been in talks with Kabir for the biopic. Reportedly, he has been approached to play the role of the winning team’s coach. The film ’83 is based on India’s first cricket World Cup win in 1983 opposite West Indies. The team was led by Kapil Dev and had such star players as Sunil Gavaskar, Mohinder Amarnath, Kris Srikkanth Yashpal Sharma, Sandeep Patil, Kirti Azad, Roger Binny, Madan Lal, Syed Kirmani and Balwinder Sandhu.
