Deepika Padukone reveals she was advised to get breast implants at the start of her film career

Deepika Padukone is not only one of the biggest names in the film industry right now but also one of the few actresses who are calling the shots. She has made a name for herself in Hollywood and was also named in the Times 100 Most Influential People’s List which had the likes of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Deepika is also respected for coming out and speaking about her battle with depression. With almost 25 million followers on Instagram to a net worth of more than £8 million, Deepika has definitely arrived and is one of the most influential and looked up to female actors of Bollywood.

However, as is the natural order of things, she has had to battle her fair share of sexism and criticism. In a recent interview to a magazine, Deepika admitted encountering brickbats and sexist attitude when she first made her debut in Bollywood. She revealed in the interview, “There were lots of things I was advised (to do). To get a boob job, do the beauty pageants. They felt it was the right way to be recognized or picked up by a Bollywood director or producer. It might be an easier way to achieve what you want to achieve. But I haven’t been that person; I’ve always followed my gut.”

In an industry where women undergo the knife, resort to botox and plastic surgeries to attain that perfect nose, pout or body, it is really admirable of Deepika that she stuck to her natural self and did not give heed to such advice. After all, we have seen quite a few surgeries gone wrong which have resulted in disaster.

Deepika with this stance of hers has proved once again that she might have been young and vulnerable at the time she entered the industry and went through depression when she was at the peak of her career but she is not a weak person. She has a mind of her own and follows her gut instincts which have been pretty right. Kudos to her!
