Ranbir interested in playing grandfather Raj Kapoor in a biopic, conditions apply

Besides a royal lineage of cinematic talent, Ranbir Kapoor is also blessed with a name reckon with. The handsome heartthrob is christened after his legendary grandfather, Ranbir Raj Kapoor, more commonly known as Raj Kapoor. Since his debut in 2009, RK has delivered a string of impeccable performances with Rajneeti, Rockstar, Barfi!, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and more. However, he experienced a lull with quite many flops but is ready to jump back into action with Sanju.

Promotions have already kicked in, and revelations have been flooding our way ever since. Ranbir will be seen playing actor Sanjay Dutt in the upcoming Rajkumar Hirani directed biopic. Dutt's being his first, Kapoor seems to be keen on finding his ground in the genre with a few more maybe. When asked if he would like to do his dad Rishi Kapoor's biopic, the actor went to add Raj Kapoor's name to the list too. However, conditions apply!

"To be honest I have not read his autobiography. I have lived with him so I know every story and all. I think it would be interesting to play but I think it would also be very interesting to play my grandfather Raj Kapoor in a biopic," Ranbir said in a recent media interaction.

"But like I said earlier, a biopic should only be made if you are allowed to show a very human side of a person. So you can't just highlight the good parts, you have to also highlight the flaws, you have to highlight the human side. Whatever my grandfather was as an actor, as a director also what he was as a human being is very important. So unless I get the permission from my entire family to like open those classified files of his life," he added.

Quizzed if he'd have his life made into a film, Ranbir had earlier dismissed it saying he doesn't think his life is interesting for a 70 mm experience. Standing by his earlier though, he said, "Yeah, it isn't. It really isn't right now. Maybe after 30 years if I still exist in the film industry and if you ask me this question then I hope I have a different take on it but as of today, I haven't pretty done anything that is cinematic material."

Speaking of biopics, Ranbir revealed he is inspired by The Wolf of Wall Street, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Gandhi amongst other real-life stories.
