Watch: Taapsee Pannu goes the extra mile for her character in Soorma

Soorma which revolves around the real story of Indian Hockey Team Captain – Sandeep Singh, played by Diljit, also stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead. After sharing an awe-inspiring video of the actor, Diljit prepping up for his character, the makers release a video of Taapsee working her tail off for the film.

The actress took to social media to share the video of her preparations for the role of a Hockey Player, wherein she is trained by none other than Sandeep Singh himself. It is a lesser known fact that, Sandeep Singh has been hailed as one of the world' most dangerous drag-flickers of all time with drag speeds of over 145 km/hr which led to his nickname, ‘Flicker Singh’.

The video puts forth the hard work and training that the actress underwent to learn the nuances and techniques of the game.

She says, "Whatever I learnt in the time frame I had was pretty commendable because I never thought I could do that much as well."

The hockey star and Taapsee's coach, Sandeep too had nothing but praises for her protege. He says in the video, "Since she has played sports before so we didn't have to focus much on fitness."

"Whatever basic skills are required in hockey which we had to show in the film, I trained her accordingly. The best thing about her was that she was on time. The one time she came late, she was punished for the same," he further added.

Taapsee too shared about her experience as she prepped for her character. She said, "Sandeep was actually the nicest coach I can ever have for a sport which I never really tried before. I thought he'll be like 'Okay. She has no idea of the sport whatsoever' and he could get a little worked up, I thought. But he was pretty calm and very encouraging."

"Many a time when you do a sport, you need to get the techniques right so I guess he was very clear about that," Taapsee added.

The trailer of the film had garnered immense appreciation from across the audience. It is an inspiring true story of the human spirit, about a player, who made headlines for his miraculous comeback after an unfortunate accident.

Produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Chitrangda Singh, and Deepak Singh, Soorma is written & directed by Shaad Ali and is slated to release on 13th July, 2018.
