Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salmaan all set to kickstart The Zoya Factor from August

Sonam Kapoor’s first film post her wedding to businessman Anand Ahuja, The Zoya Factor is all set to roll towards the end of August. The film is an adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s book of the same name. The Veere Di Wedding actress plays the lead protagonist Zoya Singh Solanki. Sothern star Dulquer Salmaan stars opposite the actress. The actress plays a client services exec who inadvertently becomes the lucky mascot of the Indian cricket team because she was born at the exact moment when India won its first World Cup in 1983. Dulquer plays the role of Nikhil Khoda, the captain of the Indian cricket team.

The Zoya Factor is directed by Abhishek Sharma who is currently on cloud nine after the success of his directorial Parmanu – The Story of Pokhran starring John Abraham and Diana Penty, is leaving no stone unturned for the reccee and readings for the film. Abhishek assures that the essence of the book will not be lost in the adaptation but maintains that since it is a 500p-page book they have to take certain liberties. The author Anuja Chauhan has been roped in to work on the additional dialogues so that the humour depicted in the book is not lost. Talking about the cricket scenes, Abhishek said, “The cricket scenes are minimal in the book, but film being a visual medium we plan to present them in a grand way. These scenes had to be rewritten but the basic plot and the characters haven’t changed much.”

The Zoya Factor is a best-selling book which shows the amount of superstition our country is willing to adhere to so that the cricket team can win the World Cup. It is a romantic story with the cricketing world as the backdrop.
