Akshay Kumar gets stuck on Chumbak, presents Swanand Kirkire's Marathi film

In 2017, at MAMI Mumbai film festival a Marathi film titled Chumbak was screened that has now caught superstar Akshay Kumar’s attention. Directed by Sandeep Modi and featuring renowned and acclaimed lyricist Swanand Kirkire in the lead, Chumbak revolves around the friendship shared by a restaurant busboy and a village simpleton. Akshay has been so impressed with the film that he has decided to present it.

The PadMan actor took to his Twitter account to share a video where he shares his heartfelt emotions about the film in Marathi. He says, “Few days ago, I saw a film which has been etched in my mind. It is a very honest film. Since then I have been thinking about the characters and the story of this film. Having seen so many films, I don’t know what made this movie stick in my mind. But I have decided to present this movie, which I am sure every one of you will like and enjoy.” The film is set to release on July 27, 2018.

The film revolves around a 15-year-old Baalu and his chance encounter with 45-year-old mentally challenged Prasanna that forces him to make a choice between his dreams and morality. The producer of the film Narain S Kumar told a leading magazine, “Baalu who is on the verge of making the choices in life, till he meets Prasanna, a mentally slow man. Thrown on a roller coaster ride of circumstances together with Prasanna, Baalu finds himself in a dilemma again. Will the attraction of his dream make him sell his soul? Or will the pull of his conscience and Prasanna make him the man he once wanted to be? Chumbak is the journey of these two opposites.”
