Deepika Padukone took a long time in signing another film post her magnificent role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat but now that she has moved on to her next project, we must say that this is a huge one. The actor will be a part of the country’s first female superhero franchise modeled on the likes of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. The script of the film is still in the works but sources say that Deepika has given her assent to the role.
The Patty Jenkins directed Wonder Woman became one of the biggest blockbusters of last year and brought a female superhero into the limelight. Now, Deepika will also be seen in a similar role and we must confess we are really excited to see her donning the superhero suit and bashing the bad guys and doing action sequences. A source informed a leading daily, “The costume will be sexy, not contrived or gimmicky. Since Deepika has an envious figure, a special outfit is being designed for her character which will be custom-made to facilitate hardcore physical combat and movement.”

The source added, “Deepika’s avatar is being fashioned after Gal Gadot’s in Wonder Woman. The developments have been kept under wraps with a creative team holding discreet meetings with Deepika on a regular basis. Presently, a running bid is on for Rs 300 crore among multiple investors. Deepika will begin training extensively in mixed martial arts and different styles of hand-to-hand combat. Since this is a first-of-its-kind mega project, the timelines for pre-production will be long and the project will go on the floors next year.”
Deepika has done some amount of stunts in her previous films like Chandni Chowk to China and in Bajirao Mastani and in her Hollywood debut xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. Deepika’s look in her Hollywood film was also classy and athletic and she looked super hot packing a punch. This piece of news has given flights to our thoughts and we just can’t stop thinking of her as Wonder Woman or Catwoman and what superpower will she wield. However, one thing’s for sure Deepika will definitely give a tough fight to our other Indian superhero, Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish. Deepika will begin shooting for the film in 2019.
