After Oscars and Cannes, BRICS posthumously honours Sridevi

In yet another moment of pride and overflow of emotions for the Kapoors, late veteran actor Sridevi was posthumously honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Indian Cinema by BRICS, reports a leading daily. The coveted honour is presented by BRICS Alliance's Business Forum Leadership Award, states the report. It further said that husband Boney Kapoor along with his sister Reena Marwah collected the award on behalf of his late wife and actress.

For the unversed, BRICS is the acronym for an association of five major emerging national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. In 2016, Sridevi's co-star of Chandni Rishi Kapoor was the recipient of this prestigious honour.

The iconic starlet was remembered with a special salute and award at the recently concluded Cannes Film Festival, earlier this month. She was honoured with the TITAN Reginald F. Lewis Film Icon Award, which celebrates women of the film industry all over the world and also salutes the multicultural impact on the film industry.

Sridevi's producer husband Boney Kapoor said he and his daughters Janhvi and Khushi were overwhelmed with the recognition, tributes and love that the actress has been showered with. "Her work and life has touched so many hearts across the world and she has been an inspiration to millions. She will live forever, thanks to her body of work," Boney said in a statement.

Sridevi in February died due to accidental drowning in a Dubai hotel. She was feted with a posthumous National Film Award for Best Actress in appreciation of her performance in her last released film Mom.
