I have no qualms in taking Varun Dhawan, Tiger Shroff, Ayushmann or Rajkummar Rao as lead in my films: John Abraham

John Abraham has come a long way from his modeling days and being called a non-actor. The handsome hunk turned producer in 2012 with Vicky Donor which features Ayushmann Khurrana, Yami Gautam and Annu Kapoor in lead roles and went on to not only do a roaring business at the box office but also fetched a National Film Award in the category of Best Popular Film.

John while giving an interview to a leading daily spoke about how he has no qualms of not featuring in every film that he produces. He said, “As a producer, I power my production not necessarily with my star presence but with the right cast for a film. So, if John Abraham is not the right cast, I am absolutely okay. I have got a fantastic script which is a female oriented script and I am willing to meet every female actress worth her salt to make sure she is on board.”

He further added, “Tomorrow, if a film suits Varun Dhawan I will go to him. Or if it suits Tiger (Shroff), I will go to him. Or if it suits Rajkummar Rao, I will go to him. Or if suits Ayushmann again, I will go to him again. I am very clear! If I have to sit in the docks and wait, I don’t have a problem but I believe the film should have the right cast. That’s when you have a true blue production house when you are really thinking outside of yourself. That’s my biggest plus, I don’t really think about myself."

John has made a name for himself as a shrewd businessman who will not balk down in the face of difficulties and if the recent events pertaining to the release of his film Parmanu - The Story of Pokhran has to go by then it is testimony to how he stands his ground.Through his production house JA Entertainment, John has made a name for himself as a tough action hero through films like Madras Café, Force 2 and now Parmanu - The Story of Pokhran but maintains that he could never pull a character like Vicky Arora from Vicky Donor.

John said that he won’t feature in the next two films that he is producing. He revealed that he was approached to star in Vicky Donor but he knew he could not carry the role and hence opted out of the film. He said, “There was talk of me being the cast in Vicky Donor, which was immediately thrown out of the window by me and thankfully Shoojit (Sircar), also. We called in Ayushmann (Khurrana) into this office where we are sitting, and we both looked at each other, we smiled and said, ‘There is no better choice for this film than Ayushmann.’ And he validated exactly what we said because he was beyond fantastic in the film."John maintains that he has no qualms in reaching out to any actor for any of his films.
