Tabu joins Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Disha Patani in Bharat

After Priyanka Chopra and Disha Patani, actress Tabu will join Salman Khan in his Eid 2019 release Bharat. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film is an official remake of the Korean film, An Ode To My Father. While the original had featured modern Korean history from the 1950s to the current day through the life of an ordinary man and events, the Indian version will be set against India’s landmarks in history from 1947 to the 2000s.

Details of her character have been kept under wraps, but Ali confirmed the National Award winning actress' addition to a leading tabloid saying, "I’ve been a huge fan of Tabu’s work and always wished to work with her. After several meetings with her, I’m happy it is finally happening with Bharat and am looking forward to the shoot.”

Earlier in 2014, Tabu had told the same tabloid in an interview that she “wants to work with people for whom a film is like a picnic and not someone who aims to change the world”. Salman and Sohail are like family to her, she had told the tabloid. “I’ve done several films with Salman. There were two offers before this too, but they didn’t work out. When Sohail offered me Jai Ho, I grabbed it,” she had quipped then. Tabu and Salman have collaborated earlier for Jeet, Biwi No. 1, Hum Saath Saath Hai and Jai Ho.

It was only last week it was announced that Disha has been roped in for Bharat. The Baaghi 2 starlet will play a trapeze artist in a circus, a character which is essential to the storyline. It is learned that Disha’s portion will be set in the 1960s. However, it is still unknown as to what character Priyanka will play in the period-drama.

Looks like Ali's next is high on star value! Produced by Atul Agnihotri and Bhushan Kumar, Bharat will be Salman's Eid offering to fans next year.
