Honouring Sridevi: Doting husband Boney plans a museum

Recently, it made news when Boney Kapoor registered at least 20 titles for a possible documentary on his late wife, the legendary Sridevi. The film is pegged to depict her life and times, including focusing on the person she was away from the arc-lights. “I am not planning anything now,” Boney had maintained when questioned about the documentary film, even as he added, “But maybe I will make the film in the future. I have registered some titles for the film.”

Now comes news that the doting husband is also planning a museum dedicated to his late wife, Sridevi. It would be his way of immortalizing his wife’s memories. The museum would help preserve details of the legendary actress’s life. There would also be mementos, memorabilia, and souvenirs of the actress, who has been a big screen favorite over the decades.

While Boney clearly wishes to preserve and cherish Sri’s memory in various formats, he is reportedly also going through his own personal challenges following her sudden death. Post her tragic demise on February 24 this year, while Boney managed to keep things together for the sake of their children, he apparently deeply feels her loss.

Insiders claim he is emotionally fragile and breaks down constantly. At the recent National awards ceremony, he broke down as he and his daughters attended to receive the award for Best Actress posthumously conferred on Sridevi for Mom. Eyewitnesses who were present at the rehearsals revealed that Boney was in a bad state all through his trip to the capital. When a cameraman asked Boney to articulate his feelings on Sridevi’s win, Boney apparently couldn’t stop the tears from flowing.

He continues to feel his late wife’s loss keenly and is apparently going through a period of emotional upheaval. While young Janhvi and Khushi are stabilizing, Boney is now having to come to terms with his loss. And it is not proving easy. The museum could possibly help him in his efforts to keep Sri alive.
