Ranbir Kapoor's first look as a dacoit in YRF's 'Shamshera' is nothing like you've ever seen before

After a lot of buzz and wait, the first look of director Karan Malhotra's Shamshera starring Ranbir Kapoor is out. Ranbir first delivered his hit with Yash Raj Films' Bachna Ae Haseeno.  His next collaboration with YRF in Rocket Singh: Salesman of The Year garnered him critical acclamation. Now, nine years later, he will be seen a dacoit in the adventure and action entertainer titled Shamshera.

The film is mainly set in India and will have multiple action sequences. Looking at its first look, we are sure that this film is nothing like what we have seen before. In the video, Ranbir is seen in an entirely different look with axe, bow and arrows in his hands and a grim look on his face. He is seen donning a tribal banjara anklet along with a headband and long messy mane.

Karan has previously given hits like the famous remake of the revenge drama Agneepath and action film Brothers. Shamshera is said to be a 3-part movie deal with the director and the studio. Talking about the movie, Ranbir shared, “Shamshera is exactly the film I was looking for. While growing up watching Hindi commercial cinema, I had an image of what a film hero should be doing. Shamshera allows me to do everything that I had imagined and it’s a very exciting project for me. Karan is going to take me completely out of my comfort zone and I’m looking forward to this challenge.”

While Ranbir has already brought in a new wave of excitement, the leading lady of the film is yet to be announced. We wonder if it will be YRF's favourite Anushka Sharma or Deepika Padukone, who is rumoured to be associating with a huge YRF project.

Shamshera is set to go on the floors by the end of 2018 and is expected to wrap with the filming by mid-2019. Currently, Ranbir Kapoor is busy shooting for Ayan Mukerji's directorial Brahmashtra which is three part Indian superhero film. In the film, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan will also be seen playing pivotal characters. Ranbir's much-awaited Sanjay Dutt biopic titled Sanju will soon hit the screens.
